We watched Halle Berry, stricken with emotion, deliver her Oscar speech, on the TV in the Tonga Room. The drinks cost $10. The band floated in a pool. We talked about the divorce, which felt 9 months and 2000 miles away. It seemed the most natural thing to be thrust together into this unusual situation. For six years the usual situations were the parts that felt unnatural.
