I finally caved and switched to a Windows machine at work (because Power BI) and the whole experience is just ceaseless low-grade discomfort. Not UNusable, not even user-hostile, but like the UX equivalent of having to wear your damp swimsuit to the restaurant after a day at the beach

It is a fractal of low grade discomfort. Slight lag when typing. WSL is frankensteined onto the real OS. The trackpad is too jumpy except when I need it to jump. I keep losing the cursor. Poor contrast, bad gamma, lousy color gamut. Every clickable thing has mysterious boundaries and poor feedback, did I actually click anything? There are no menus any more. Type is jagged and unkerned. I can’t easily type common high bit characters.

Nothing catastrophic, just sand in the waistband

I will give Windows this, after being on MacOS Tahoe: Microsoft is not afraid of right angles, and the icons aren’t all uniform chiclets. And Windows still has superior window handling.
