“Holland, 1945” began to play at the exact moment we stepped into the bookstore café. My daughter asked, “do you know this song Dadda?” & I answered:

“the only girl I ever loved/was born with roses in her eyes…”

The barista joined in, quietly, and then a few other patrons did too.

I cannot recall ever playing this song in front of my kids. This kid…I tellya…
