Anchor Babies

So the Washington State Republican Party declared its hostility to the 14th Amendment. They have gripes with the part that reads "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." This is the bit that declares U.S.-born children of non-citizens to be citizens themselves (aka "Anchor Babies"). Random thought: maybe illegal immigrants are the last people in America willing to sacrifice their own self-interest for those of their children. At any rate, eliminating birthright citizenship would leave us with pretty much the same immigration system as France. Smart move, Washington State Republicans!
